Modena International Military Tattoo
Military bands from Great Britain, Turkey, Finland and Italy will attend the only Italian military tattoo, from July 5 through 9, 2011 in the City of Modena.
The audience will be attending shows and concerts in the city center of Modena, among the Italian renown historical towns, performed by the Conscript Band of the Finnish Defence Forces, the Band of the Grenadier Guards, the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Batallion Scots Guards, the Turkish Mehter Band and other outstanding Italian Military Bands. The festival, at its 20th edition, is presented by the Fondazione Teatro Comunale in collaboration with and under the patronage of some of the highest Italian State institutions, including the Italian Presidency, the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, besides the Military Academy of Modena and the City of Modena.
A full five days
program includes afternoon walking bands and night concerts through streets, squares, and parks.
All events are free, except the main shows in Piazza Roma on Thursday 7 and Saturday 9 at 9:00 pm. Tickets are on sale at 10 Euros (a reduced ticket is available at 2 euros for people 3 to 15 and over 65 years old). (for booking details see

New this year, will be a special exhibit of historical toys from 1861 offered by Libreria Antiquaria Lucia Panini (corso Canalchiaro, 26, free entrance). The show
I soldatini che fecero l’Italia includes over 200 pieces gathered around the theme of the Italian Risorgimento.
The 20th edition of the Festival includes guided tours to Palazzo Ducale di Modena and holidays package promoted by
Modenatur. A unique DVD with excerpts of the past 20 editions of the Festival will be on sale during the Festival days at the box office of Teatro Comunale (Corso Canal Grande 85).
